HOW PRINTS ARE MADE |
THE IMAGE |
| My prints are based on my original photography and this to me, of course, is the most important and rewarding step in the sequence. All of the images in the galleries on this web site were taken with 35mm equipment, on traditional film. |

SCAN |
| Images are scanned into Photoshop using a high resolution scanner and corrected to my intentions for a particular image . |

GICLEE PRINT |
| I have found that there is substantial art involved in making a giclee print. . I don't do mass production printing and I personally custom print each print. For me printing my work is a very satisfying extension of the artistic process. After experimenting with printing for years, I feel like I now have a very satisfactory method of producing a fine print. My printing is done on archival high quality paper (weight 250 gsm,thickness10 mil) using archival Ultrachrome inks in seven colors. In my opinion, there has never been a printing process as satisfactory for custom printed art prints. |
| Most of my printing is done on a matte or semimatte surface paper and, unless you request otherwise, matte is what you will receive if you order a print. . After much experimentation with various papers, I have concluded that a matte surface works well for an art print displayed under clear glass, and my prints are intended for display under glass. |

DISPLAY LIFE OF PRINTS |
| Accelerated light fading test conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research for the paper and Ultrachrome inks that I use, predict a display life of over 75 years before noticeable fading or change in color balance when framed under clear glass. UV protection glass extends this to 155 years. Wilhelm Imaging Research is considered to be conservative in their projections. With reasonable care, appropriate for any art print, my prints can be enjoyed for many generations to come. |

Compare to traditional methods of printing. |
